Presentation
Fred is pleased to offer a true wildlife photography workshop featuring Grizzly’s of the Bella Coola Valley in British Columbia, Canada. Each workshop is limited to 2-3 guests, giving participants ample opportunity for one-on-one instruction with the photographer and up close viewings of grizzlies as they roam the riverbanks, feasting on salmon. Our backdrop is the emerald colour river and the rich BC rainforest flora. River float trips will immerse guests in the bear’s preferred fall habitat where salmon are spawning.
This small group style ensures maximum field time while catering to each person’s skills and interests. Our small group size also allows photographers to move around easily and blend into the natural environment to capture the best light, backgrounds and composition – while maintaining respect for the animals. This approach helps us end up with beautiful, natural-looking shots.
This workshop is scheduled to coincide with the annual salmon run in the Bella Coola Valley. During the Salmon run the Grizzly Bears can usually be seen daily. The areas where will be photographing bears area are very private and there are no crowds to speak of. This discreet location with its peace and solitude will allow you to take your time and enjoy your experience photographing the bears. Mothers and cubs can often be seen and young bears playing can offer photographers opportunities for unique images. Fred will make sure that you are in the right place with the right lighting and will work alongside you to coach you in photography techniques, exposures, equipment, settings, composition and more in order for you to get the best possible shots. Our goal is to make sure you get professional quality images and experience the bears in their natural habitat. The Bella Coola Valley is a photographers paradise and one of the hidden gems of beautiful British Columbia.
